We Made the Front Page!
Wednesday, July 21st, as part of our Summer Reading Program, we took a group of Elementary-aged kids on a walk to the Attica Water Plant to tour the facilities and the resevoir. This year's Summer Reading theme "Make a Splash - READ!" lended itself well to this tour, in which kids
witnessed first-hand what it takes to allow murky Honey Creek to supply all of our village's water. Jill Gosche of Tiffin's Advertiser Tribune braved the sun and heat to capture the experience, and we ended up making the front page of July 22nd's issue of the Advertiser! If you missed it you can still check it out at the Advertiser Tribune's website. Just search "Read and Learn" or "Attica" under local news. Also while visiting check out the rest of the photos from the event by clicking CU Photo Galleries.
Make a Splash @Garlo Park!
Friday, June 25th we kicked off our Summer Reading Program at Garlo Park in Bloomville. Over 50 people came out for a refreshing nature hike, a fun craft, and water games! Students going into grades K-12 that were in attendance got to sign up for our prize incentive reading program. After all that we welcomed Mr. Peter Rushton of P.T. Reptiles in Columbus who brought his band of slimy slithering and scaly friends. Kids and parents alike enjoyed learning about, watching and holding his friends including a
baby alligator, tortoise, tarantula, and 9 foot 45 pound PYTHON! A special thanks goes to the National Machinery Foundation for making Peter's visit possible! Even after all that excitement we still weren't done. Refreshments, provided by the SEPL Foundation and served by the PALS group, included root beer floats and s'mores! Thanks to everyone for coming out and making this year's kick-off party a huge success!
